Superflora choc-o-orange balls

Got a sweet tooth? I do love an after dinner treat. Or a share-around-the-office treat. Or a good-job-at-the gym treat. Any reason will do! Made with Superflora Rich Cocoa Chocolate, these protein balls are packed with protein, fibre + probiotics. Plus, they’re so delicious, no-one will even suspect that they’re healthy!

INGREDIENTS

1 navel orange, juice and zest

10 dates (45g), pitted and roughly chopped

200g macadamias, peanuts or mixed nuts

50g Plant-Based Chocolate Superflora protein powder

1/3 cup Valrhona Dutch Cocoa Powder

2 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp coconut oil, melted (if required)

METHOD

Roughly blitz pitted dates and nuts in a food processor. Add remaining ingredients (reserving 2 tbsp of cocoa powder to dust). Blitz until well combined. If your mix is too dry or just not coming together because your orange wasn’t very juicy, add 2 tbsp of coconut oil. Roll into balls and then roll in remaining cocoa to finish. Place in a Tupperware container and store in the fridge. Makes approx. 12 balls.

NB

If you are sensitive to fructans, you’ll have to limit yourself to 1 ball per serving. Each ball contains less than 8g of dates (which is a safe serving size for those that are limiting fodmaps).

If fodmaps are not a problem for you, almonds are another nut option you can try.
